Obi's BIO: Obi found his love for fitness by being involved in sports. He is a former top Division I collegiate sprinter at Cal State Fullerton. He is still considered one of the fastest men in the history of the school. Before graduating from the school he was the school record holder in the 100 and 200 meters, Athlete Of The Year, 4&100 meter relay and a Two-time All Big West Conference honors. During his collegiate career he got the privilege of training and competing against some of the fastest and the best athletes in the world. His knowledge and awareness of health and fitness came from his collegiate background.
After suffering hamstring injuries during half of his collegiate career, he decided to get involve in sports modeling. Being a natural athlete allowed him to succeed as a sports model quickly. With over a decade of being a sports model, his resume spans currently with over 10 national commercials and over 15 national print ad campaigns in his belt. The most notable commercial is the Gatorade Commercial called the winning formula where he beat out over 100 fitness models and athletes for this spot.
This international commercial which aired from 2005 to 2007 is still considered one of the greatest gatorade commercials ever. After attaining the success as a sports model, he decided it was time to break into the fitness industry. He broke into the fitness industry in early 2008 and has taken the industry by storm by his quick rise to success. In less than two years in the fitness industry he has established himself as one of the top fitness models in the world. In less than 2 years in the fitness industry he has landed more than eight fitness covers and in 2009 he has landed more international supplement ad campaigns than any male fitness model in the industry. His ads have been featured in magazines such as Fitness RX For Men, Men’s Journal, Flex, Muscle Mag, (Inside Cover) of Reps, Muscular Development, (Back cover of Exercise and Health), Muscle and Fitness and other fitness/bodybuilding magazines across the world.
Some of the historical major milestones in his fitness career are the following: He made history by being part of the first African-American male male and female on a U.S fitness magazine for Max Sports and Fitness as well as the first black male and female on a Canadian fitness magazine for Inside Fitness. He also was the first African-American male fitness model to land a supplement ad for Dymatize Nutrition; First American male fitness model to be featured in Oxygen, Australia, First American male fitness model to grace the cover for Australian Natural Bodz; First male fitness model to grace the cover of a Middle Eastern magazine in Physique Magazine; First American male fitness model to grace the cover of a bodybuilding in the Philippines; First American male fitness model to land a major European supplement meals campaign for Natural Sports Nutrition.
He is one of the most sought out fitness models for interviews. He has done interviews for bodybuilding.com, australiabodybuilding.com, Greg Mantell Cable Talk Show, Soul Salon Radio Show, criticalbench.com, Muscle and Strength,com as well as many other interviews. Although he is known for being in great shape he has also proved to be a great writer and he is currently a fitness columnist for 6 national and international magazines which is more than any fitness model in the industry. He is a columnist for Australian Natural Bodz, World Physique Magazine, Inside Fitness, Physique Magazine, American Natuaral Bodz and African-American Golfer's Digest. One of his passions is being able to write articles that allows him to educate people all over the world about health and fitness.
Obi also has an online and one on one personal training business called Perfect Anatomy Personal-training where its mission is to help people become more fit and healthy in their respective lives. His life goals in fitness is to inspire people all over the world to be as healthy as they can be. He hopes he can help reduce the obesity rate all over the world by his articles and his knowledge and love of health and fitness.
